My favorite basic leather Seiko watch strap
Watches made in the 1960s and 1970s are hard to keep with their leather straps. The quality is also too degraded, not ensuring the durability of the watches when worn daily. Finding replacement leather straps is something that almost every collector and casual wearer does. It can be a frustrating task, but it can also be a lot of fun.
Here are some objective experiences of my leather strap hobby. Cowhide leather strap is a must have choice. Why is that? Well here are a few reasons why I feel it’s totally worth it.
- Soft, hugs the wrist when worn from the first time.
- Veg Tan leather straps are tanned with herbs so they have a very pleasant natural scent. The color also carries many personal marks after a long time of use.
- There are suitable sizes typical for vintage Seiko such as 18mm-15mm, 19mm-15mm. If there is no original clasp, 18mm-16mm, 19mm-16mm is also not too bad.
- Easy with options for the length of the 2 straps, making the clasp position more central when worn under the wrist.
- 2.2mm thinness is suitable for most vintage Seiko watches.
- High level of finish, every detail is meticulously cared for by leather craftsman. The stitching is very impressive.
- The colors are also very basic: Black, Dark Brown, Tan
